How to reach Barcelona

BY AIR

Some airlines which provide flies to Barcelona

Barcelona Airport

  • Barcelona Airport

The airport is located 12 kilometres outside the city, direction south. Most European airlines, and many international ones, operate flights from its international terminal.

The airport has three terminals. International airlines operate from terminal A; domestic flights by IBERIA, Air Europa and Spanair operate from terminal B as do British Airways and Lufthansa flights. Terminal C is used by Iberia’s Barcelona-Madrid shuttle.

Local transportation from the airport

  • Bus (recommended)

There is a shuttle bus leaving the airport , direction to Barcelona city, every 9 minutes (working days) or 12-13 minutes (weekend). The price is 3.60 euros. It stops in all 3 terminals, and inside the city, it stops in several places (Plaça Espanya, Gran Via, Plaça Universitat, Plaça Catalunya, Pg. de Gràcia, Av. Roma, Sants Station). Notice that Plaça Catalunya (Catalonia Square) is the hub of Barcelona, and from there you can take any public transport (bus, metro, FCG, RENFE, taxis )

  • Train

Due to works in Sants Station, the train service to the airport has been modificated, and it is now more complicated to reach the city . To go to Barcelona, you have to take an special train which goes to "el Prat de Llobregat", and there you have to change to line 2 of train. This line has stops in Barcelona-Sants, Barcelona-Passeig de Gràcia and Barcelona-Clot , but not in Barcelona-Plaça de Catalunya. To go to Plaça de Catalunya, you have to make a second train change in Sants Station.

  • Taxi

The taxi rank is on the left hand of the main airport exit (looking out). Normally there are taxis all day and night. It takes 20-30 minutes to reach the city center, depending on the road, and it costs around 25-30 euros.
