The Special Research Center in Astrophysics, Particle Physics and Cosmology of the University of Barcelona is an interdisciplinary center which is devoted to research in fields related to astrophysics, particle physics and cosmology.

It gathers researchers from the departments of Astronomy and Meteorology, Structure and Constituents of Matter and Fundamental Physics.

The center has contacts with other institutions with common interests, such as the Institute of Spatial Studies of Catalunya (IEEC) and the Institute of High Particle Physics (IFAE), and is born with the aim of acting as a catalyst of the activities that are done around these fields in the University of Barcelona, the first academic institution of the country.

Its objectives are:

• The development of research projects in astrophysics, particle physics and cosmology.
   
• The exchange of ideas among the integrating researchers.
   
• The realization of studies related with the themes that are object of CER dedication.
   
• The participation in researchers' training in the themes that are object of CER dedication.
