Currently I am concentrated on several topics in
Particle Physics Phenomenology beyond the Standard Model.
My research assignments, which I carry out under the supervision of my PhD advisors, Professors
Joan Solà and
Jaume Guasch, involve two main streamlines:
On one hand we are interested in tracing back the role of
Supersymmetric theories into the
flavour dynamics of elementary
particles. Of crucial importance are the
Flavour-Changing Neutral Currents (FCNC), which turn out to be
extremely supressed in the Standard Model (due to the
Glashow-Iliopoloulos-Maiani mechanism) but, in contrast, could be
largely enhanced on the grounds of some more fundamental underlying
dynamics. In
particular, my master thesis was devoted to study the single
top-quark production triggered by flavor-changing supersymmetric
interactions in proton-proton collisions to be observed at the LHC.
This is a very interesting process since it could provide a very large
signal (of around 100,000 events in the whole life of the LHC !!) that
would be distinctive (if ever observed) of a Supersymmetric
dynamics lying beyond the Standard Model. Furthermore, we have also
recently shown than even in the case of virtually decoupled gluinos
(which are the SUSY force carriers of the strong interaction), we could
still
be left with sizeable production rates entailing around 1000 events,
due to the cooperative SUSY-EW contribution. For further details
you can have a look at the eprint
hep-ph/0710.0587, and also at the talks I gave at the
RADCOR 2007
International Conference (Firenze) and at the Interplay of Collider and Flavor Physics
Worshop at CERN (the latter includes several recent results, obtained in collaboration with Santi Béjar)
On the other hand we are also working very
hard on the (certainly exciting !) field of particle phenomenology in
Extended Higgs Sectors, either
in Supersymmetric (MSSM) and non-Supersymmetric (2HDM's) scenarios. Last summer we showed (see our eprint
hep-ph/0707.3162.)
that, due to the potential enhancements of the
trilinear Higgs self-interactions, the triple Higgs production channels
by electron-positron anihilation in the general 2HDM would result into
cross sections up to 50.000 events, that is, even higher than the
pair-production case (!). Such a surprising fact would translate
into 6 heavy-quark jet production through the decay of the Higgs
bosons, which could entail spectacular signals in Linear Colliders
! Now I am (almost) fully concentrated in a giant
computation involving the 1-loop renormalization of the neutral Higgs
sector within the general 2HDM. Other studies, such as for instance on
the inclusive triple Higgs production
cross sections within the 2HDM context are also
in progress.
Formerly I had also been in touch with several topics related to
Nuclear and Many-Body Physics.
During a collaboration grant (from 2005 to 2006), and under the
supervision of Professors Artur Polls, Isaac Vidaña and Arnau
Rios, I explored the thermodynamical properties of nuclear and neutron
matter at finite temperature with finite-range effective nuclear
interactions. This work led to the publication Phys. Rev. C74 (2006) 068801 (
nuc-th/0604058). We also adressed the problem of
hyperonic impurities in the nuclear medium within a
Brueckner-Hartree-Fock approach and the application of Gogny-type
nuclear forces to neutron star calculations.

A brief insight into Differential Renormalitzation:
In this brief report I review such technique of handling
ultra-violet divergences in Quantum Field Theory. This work was
suggested by Professor José Ignacio Latorre during a course on
Particle Physics that I took during the autumn semester of 2006. If
you are learning
