For more than three years I have been concentrating on several topics in Particle Physics Phenomenology beyond the Standard Model. My research interests include Supersymmetry, Higgs physics and the computation of Radiative Corrections. My recent work, performed together with my PhD advisors, Professors Joan Solà and Jaume Guasch, involves two main streamlines:

  • On the one hand we are interested in tracing back the role of Supersymmetric theories into the flavour dynamics of elementary particles. Of crucial importance are the Flavour-Changing Neutral Currents (FCNC), which turn out to be extremely supressed in the Standard Model (due to the Glashow-Iliopoloulos-Maiani mechanism) but, in contrast, could be largely enhanced on the grounds of some more fundamental underlying dynamics. In particular, we have explored two different mechanisms involving supersymmetric flavor-changing neutral currents; one is the production of single top-quark final states from gluon fusion in the context of the LHC. This is a very interesting process since it could provide a very large signal (of around 100,000 events in the whole life of the LHC !!) that would be distinctive (if  ever observed) of a Supersymmetric dynamics lying beyond the Standard Model. Interestingly enough, even in the case of virtually decoupled gluinos (which are the SUSY force carriers of the strong interaction), we could still be left with sizeable production rates entailing around 1000 events, due to the cooperative SUSY-EW contribution. Alternatively, one may also expect to generate electrically -neutral heavy-quark pairs through the production, and subsequent FCNC decay, of supersymmetric neutral Higgs bosons. Both mechanisms have been explored in detail, including the full set of SUSY-QCD and SUSY-EW one-loop contributions.
  • On the other hand we are also working very hard on the field of particle phenomenology in Extended Higgs Sectors, either of supersymmetric (MSSM) non-supersymmetric nature (2HDM's). Most particularly, we are interested in surveying the phenomenological impact that triple Higgs self-interactions may stamp on Higgs production processes at the future linear colliders. The enhancement potential of triple Higgs self-couplings is a trademark feature of the generic 2HDM's and is completely unmached to e.g. the MSSM, as a result of the fact that Higgs-boson self-interactions are restrained to be purely gauge due to the requirement of supersymmetric invariance. We have spotlighted a plethora of very characteristic signatures which would be triggered by large 3H self-couplings in e.g. the processes of i) triple Higgs-boson production; ii) double-Higgs boson production via gauge-boson fusion; and iii) Higgs-boson production induced by photon scattering. Moreover, we have also studied the footprints of 3H self-interactions in the quantum effects to the production of neutral Higgs-boson pairs, as well as to the more traditional Higgs-strahlung channels. In all cases the results are very interesting and, moreover, taking into account the superbly clean environment of linear colliders, they offer excellent prospects from an experimental point of view.

  • Some notes and references on Physics

Some pieces of work that I have uploaded here just in case that they are of interest to you ... !

    * A brief insight into Differential Renormalitzation: In this brief report I review such technique of handling ultra-violet divergences in Quantum Field Theory. This work was suggested by Professor José Ignacio Latorre during a course on Particle Physics that I took during the autumn semester of 2006. If you are learning LaTeX and you would like to learn how to work out slides within a LaTeX package (for instance prosper), you can also download the following source code and have a look at it.

     * Students' Seminars 2009: (Non-Standard Perspectives on Electroweak Symmetry Breaking).
Please find herewith an extended version of the slided I used for my seminar on February the 13th.

    * HEP group Internal Seminar - UB (2010)
(Recent progress in Two-Higgs-Doublet Models: phenomenology of triple Higgs self-interactions)
Here you have the slides of my seminar on January the 22nd.
